Below is a listing of the various program initiatives underway in our schools across the country.
‘Empowerment for All’- HIV and AIDS
OBJECTIVES:
- Increasing knowledge and skills of teachers on how to deliver age appropriate information to and conduct life skills sessions with their students.
- Promoting school environments which promote non-discriminatory practices among students, teachers and staff.
- Increasing the availability of information on HIV and AIDS including the availability of services, care and support.
- Increasing student’s knowledge of HIV and AIDS and increasing the number of students with the necessary life skills to prevent HIV infection.
- Increasing parents’ knowledge of HIV and AIDS and an increasing the number of parents displaying positive attitudes towards persons living with HIV and AIDS.

OBJECTIVES:
To equip teachers with guidance and professional development in the teaching of Language Arts under the following categories:
- Student motivation to read and write
- Phonological Awareness
- Letter Identification
- Letter Sound Associations
- The Alphabetic Principle
- Print Awareness
- Print Conventions
- Whole Word Identification
- Comprehension Skills
- Vocabulary and Language Development
- The Interdisciplinary Approach
Feeding Program
OBJECTIVES:
To provide at least one nutritious meal to every child per day to ensure that learning will take place. There are currently feeding programs operating in 18 of our 22 schools.
